Zia by Night

4.4/5
2558 reviews

Leave the beach behind and head for the hills to the mountain village of Zia for the evening. Sitting high in pine-forested Mount Dikaios, it's bagged itself gorgeous views of the island's North coast and across the Aegean to Turkey. And from up here, the sunsets are nothing short of spectacular.

Once you're dropped off, you'll have plenty of free time to wander around and admire the scenery. Bring your camera and find yourself the best view point as the sun sinks behind the hills. And bag some locally made goodies like a lace tablecloths or some olive oil or sticky honey in the souvenir shops and roadside stalls.

You could check out the village's Byzantine church as well. Later, as darkness falls, pull up a pew in one of Zias tavernas for dinner. Some have rooftop terraces where you can soak up the view, while you eat dinner, just as the stars come out.

The coach was quick to reach the drop off point, driver made clear the pickup arrangements. Zia was busy but not too busy. We were able to walk in to a restaurant without reservations. Food was delicious and the views were sweeping as the sun set.

I would have liked perhaps anther 30 minutes for shopping after eating then waiting for the sunset, there wasn't long to browse. However, I did fully enjoy my time in Zia.

The village is tiny and not traditional, it is worth visiting to seee the sun sent which is magic

It was just a transfer from Lambi to Zia. However it was timmed perfectly. We had time to explore the town, have some local food and enjoy the sunset from while eating the food at the restaurant. As soon as you get there, go to your favourite restaurant and book a table 1h before the sunset. Trust me on this one.

"Zia night" was over all very nice, but considering the cost (€16/person) is nothing else than the transportation, it seemed to me too expensive. As another disappointment, the first restaurant we went in was fully booked, at the second restaurant, we could take seats, but it took them more than half an hour to bring us what we ordered, as a result, not much time was left walking around the town for shopping. I recommend to make a reservation at a restaurant you want to go.
