Whether you're a rum lover, a history nut or simply a fan of fun days out, a trip to the Oliver Rum Lab is well worth the visit. They've been producing award-winning rums since 1874, so you'll have the chance to learn about the distillation process and different sugar canes it's made from. And to top off the history lesson there'll be a rum tasting session, too. Plus, if you want to indulge your sweet tooth you can also choose a chocolate materclass.

We arrived and had a fair wait which we later discovered a previous group was in the room having an experience but we had just been told to wait at a door not the reason why. I put it down to them wanting us to purchase items from within the store. I went for a Rum tasting experience, Felix was our host and was very knowledgeable and informative. He knew how to gauge and speak with his audience in a positive manner. The rums on sale were competitively priced which also pleasantly surprised us.

TLDR, the experience is a visit to a fancy gift shop. The Rum tasting was brilliant - informative and fun. "Rummelier" was very knowledgeable, and the food pairings were great. Cigar experience was just a cigar in a smoking room with some more rum/coffee etc - but much left to your own devices to smoke a cigar. However, it is a (somewhat expensive) gift shop first and foremost. The rum we tasted was either unavailable or $100+ for a 50cl bottle.

Whilst this is a rum tasting tour it should be made clear that the rum provided has been curated to taste like whiskey which I do not like had this been mentioned in the description I would not have booked it! Also half of the tour also involves cigar tasting which as a non smoker I did not take part in this also wasn’t mentioned in the description and I feel I ended up paying for a service I neither wanted or requested! The staff however were really friendly and knowledgeable
