Mano Juan tour with turtle sanctuary visit, swim stop and lunch

4.5/5
20 reviews

Explore Mano Juan, a fishing village on Saona Island, where streets are sandy paths, the ocean sets the pace and life instantly slows down. This is a place where mornings begin with fishing boats returning to shore and afternoons drift by under the Caribbean sun, far from the noise of the Dominican Republic's mainland.

Mano Juan is tiny, cosy and full of everyday charm. About 500 people live here, making a living from fishing, selling crafts and running eco‑tourism activities. As you wander past colourful wooden houses, you'll spot the school, the church and little family kiosks selling handmade jewellery and carvings. When people get hungry, beachfront kitchens serve up fresh Dominican dishes — usually whatever the fishermen brought in that morning. For your lunch, you'll stop at one of the village's restaurants for a helping of frilled lobster and seafood – your drinks are included, too.

Tradition runs deep here. Fishermen still use age‑old methods that help protect the waters they depend on. You'll also visit the local marine turtle conservation centre, where locals care for endangered species. Throughout the tour, you'll also stop at a white-sand beach for some R&R and a chance to go for a dip. Plus, towards the end of the outing, you'll hop on a boat and head to the Natural Pool, a natural sandbar that's known in the Dominican Republic for its bright turquoise water.

Absolutely worth It. Very nice people on the boat, great guide Rafael (Bambi),amazing service with drinks, meal in restaurant in Sanoa Island was superb. The only problem (problem of Tui) was, that we were scheduled to be in front of the hotel at 7:10,but according to bus schedule,we had to be there at 7:30.We did not have time for breakfast (only 5 minutes). The propositions need changes in this way. Overall amazing trip

Overall this was an amazing experience! It was a great day. However, if you are looking to lay on the beach at Saona Island for a long period of time - this is not the right tour for you! If you like visiting different quintessential Caribbean beaches then this is for you! Lots of little stops to have a swim and a rum!

Absolutely fantastic trip after a delayed start because the coach went to wrong pick up point and was therefore late. Our tour guide was very nice and spoke many languages so was easily understood. He was very informative with everything we saw. The boat trip was really enjoyable and all crew and staff were great hosts. The Island over Saona was incredible and undoubtedly the most beautiful place to see. Beaches and natural pools were stunning. Lively to see the starfish and turtles.

We had a fantastic time was great value for money however there are other providers doing the same trip for nearly half the cost. I do think Tui need to look at the cost they are charging loyal customers. But we did have a fantastic day. 👍
