El Jem Colosseum Tour with Pirate Boat Cruise

3.6/5
41 reviews

Prepare for an adventure that takes in Tunisia's Roman roots and pirate past. You'll visit an amphitheatre to rival that of Rome with a tour of El Jem – an ancient colosseum where gladiator games once took place. Then, take to the waves for a swashbuckling afternoon at sea that includes swim stops, lunch and snacks aboard a replica pirate galley.

This UNESCO World-Heritage site of El Jem is soaked in history. You'll be captivated by its stone-cut walls, fine-tuned archways and three-floor facade, a testament of glory to what was the Roman Empire. Take a seat in the age-old stadium and admire the arena below, just like they did in times gone by.

Then, we'll cast off from Monastir harbour into the Mediterranean, just as the Barbary pirates did for centuries. But while they struck fear into European coastal communities as far afield as Iceland, we'll be going out to have wholehearted fun. There'll be stops to dive into the sea for swimming and plenty of time to dry off on-board while chillin' with water drinks and munching on snacks.

Paid more for Tui for a better service but was dissapointed.Guide Ahmet wanted us to meet him back at his friends restrurant(he brings tourists in and in our opinion gets commision). No PIRATES just a ship.Staffs personal hygiene was beyond disgusting.Water bottle was already opened and cups were used(wet and muddy).Rushed us while eatting by starting on the other side.Used female guests mainly as a form of entertainment and exceeded our bonderies.Tips wanted tipbox in hands.Sick daughter after.

The pirate boat experience was 1st class the crew were professional and the entertainment was non stop. We even rescued an exhausted man swimming too far out from the shore. Enjoyed the trip to el jem, the museum though fascinating I couldn't stay indoors because of the heat.

Pirate Boat was excellent. The Museum was excellent and guide knowledgeable. The coliseum was an excellent visit. The guide should have stayed at coliseum and regathered us as a group. Instead he asked us to meet him back at bus. I waited for partner and lost group and ultimately had to find bus on my own and got slightly lost. Very frightening in busy place and this could have been avoided . It was OK in the end and made it back. Could not hear guide on bus and held mic too close to.mouth.

What a brilliant experience for the whole family! Everyone was friendly, helpful and polite. They got you involved which was really nice. They catered for all ages which is not easy to do. I would happily do it again and would highly recommend to anyone

Great mix for adults and children- 16,14 and 8. The tour guide was very knowledgable. The bus driver was considerate and drove safely. The pirate ship was great fun, the food was lovely and everyone enjoyed jumping off the ship into the sea. The dancing was really fun. Lots of coach time but it was worth it.

Unfortunately we went on one of the last boat tours of the season. There was no vibe at all and to be honest I was expecting some fun . We have been on similar in Turkey and even when quiet there is a pirate show etc
