Sorrento hills Due Golfi train tour with regional food tastings

4.6/5
459 reviews

All aboard Sorrento's foodie train for three hours of the region's best countryside views and famous flavours. The whimsically retro blue and white trolley train trundles out from hilltop Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi to kick off your tasting tour.

The Desert Monastery is first up. It dates back to 1769 and gives its resident Benedictine nuns, and you, some heavenly views of the Gulfs of Salerno and Naples, as well as Mount Vesuvius. Your next stop is Orto Ghezi to sample the spoils of a Mediterranean kitchen garden. You'll try honey and ‘limoncelle' apple jam here.

During your panoramic train tour, there are all sorts of delicacies to taste, like local wines, fresh olive oil, tomatoes, olives, and bread. You'll also get stuck into a hands-on workshop to turn fresh lemons into limoncello – and sip the zesty end result. Plus, there's a mozzarella-making demo where you'll taste the freshly-made cheese.

Brilliant day out, seeing areas that are not covered by other tours, the food tasting and learning how things are produced is fantastic, the hosts were so friendly and passionate about what they do. Plenty of places for photo opportunities and meeting other fellow travellers and having so much fun and laughter I would highly recommend this tour.

This was great fun, you get to see so much as it’s a slower pace but because the train has open sides you get a good view and a nice breeze too! The guide is great fun and very knowledgeable. A view from a monastery, limoncello tasting and a visit to a family run garden to taste wine, cheeses, oil and honey. A really great trip.

Really fun morning. Thoroughly enjoyed visiting the different areas on a train with a superb guide who imparted so much wonderful knowledge. The openness of the train allowed us to really take in the scenery and be a part of it. It was also a great way of the tour group to get to know each other. The preparation and testing of all the produce was fantastic and the staff involved so very very friendly and clearly wanting it to be a great experience. The monastery was a wonderful visit too.
