Festive evening tour of Arrecife Christmas Fair and markets

3.3/5
12 reviews

Swap snowflakes for sunbeams this season and gift yourself a sun-kissed adventure in Arrecife – Lanzarote's bite-sized capital. Despite the balmy temperatures, you'll feel fully festive on this evening trip to Navilan, Arrecife's Christmas fair, complete with rides, market stalls and cozy fire pits. Ana, one of our local guides, says “it's the most wonderful time of the year in Lanzarote. Surround yourself with the festive magic of the fair and jingle your way through the market – the ultimate gift under your Christmas palm tree.”

Whether you're after an adrenaline rush on the rollercoaster, or prefer the pace of a classic carousel, there's something for all ages and appetites, and you'll have plenty of time to explore it all. Ride the 32-meter-high Ferris wheel to get your bearings and nab a picture of Arrecife bathed in the glow of twinkling Christmas lights. There's a snowy slope for sledging down, an ever-snowing igloo and an ice-rink where you can show off your triple axel – or just have a shuffle around with the crowd.

With the scent of roasted chestnuts in the air, follow your nose to the traditional Christmas market. 22 stalls are brimming with festive favourites, from handmade crafts, decorations and gifts to locally produced cheeses, jams and wines. Ana adds “nothing says Christmas like a roaring fire, so make sure you take a moment to cozy up by the fire pit, grab some marshmallows to toast and maybe a hot chocolate or mulled wine.” After you've had your fill of Christmas cheer, you'll meet up with your guide and jingle all the way back to your hotel in Playa Blanca or Puerto del Carmen.

It was basically a fun fair with a FEW market stalls. When we arrived at 5pm many of the stalls hadn't opened. Most stalls were selling hot food and they weren't prepared, hot food not available for quite some time. We didn't use the free snack voucher as the stall's hygiene practices left a lot to be desired and meat was only placed in a combi oven for a couple of minutes before being served so wouldn't have been a safe temperature. Zero value for money and a complete waste of an evening.

Coach did not pick us up from the hotel. Coach journey multiple pick ups - too long No clear info on where to pick up snack from - even information didn’t know - guide no where to be seen Nothing included in price - paid £96 and had to pay for everything in there - it is just a fee for the coach Market did not have certain things advertised in pictures (snow slide for example) Market stalls were mainly food and drink Return journey refused to drop at hotel - had to walk with 2 kids in dark

It was all a mess and 500 characters is not enough. 1 hour trip was 1.5 hours. 7.30 pick up was 8pm so we missed food at the hotel. 'Snack' was disgusting precooked pork heated up and everyone threw it away. Staff member used dustbins and then came back and continued handling food without changing gloves. Market was child based and we had no children. Just a few stalls selling Xmas items that were overpriced and much the same. We left after half an hour it was so poor. Would like a refund.

The Christmas market was very small, not worth the nearly 2 hour trip to get to.

The allotted time was way too long for the scale of Christmas Market. The included snack of a pork sandwich was unfit for consumption - pork had been partially reheated and the hygiene practices of the staff questionable - a poorly tummy waiting to happen so we threw our food away rather than eat it. Finally we were told when we booked that we would be back in time to eat at the hotel and we were not so no time to sort out food to off set the snack debacle . The market itself was uninspiring.
