Barcelona city tour

4.4/5
289 reviews

Barcelona continually tops Europe's city break charts – it's a buzzing metropolis with enough wow-factor sights to bowl any visitor over. Discover Poble Espanyol, Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas, Plaça Espanya and Montjuïc hill. Martina, one of our expert local guides, says ‘Originally built for an exhibition almost 100 years ago, Poble Espanyol is a ‘village' which is home to 117 replicas of some of Spain's most celebrated architectural gems. The onsite fine art museum has works by Picasso, Dalí and Miro on display, and lots of local artisans make and sell their handicrafts here.'

After a look around Poble Espanyol, the next stop offers the chance to see the striking exterior of the Sagrada Familia, a church resembling a wave-worn sandcastle – the most famous legacy of legendary local architect Antoni Gaudi. Martina adds, ‘Construction began on the Sagrada Familia way back in 1882. The current estimated completion date is 2026 – meaning that the building will be completed 100 years after Gaudí died. I think he would be proud to see how well his ideas have been realised.'

You'll then have plenty of free time to explore Barcelona under your own steam. Maybe take a stroll along the pedestrianised Las Ramblas and visit La Boqueria indoor market where you could opt to try some of the tasty treats on offer. A panoramic drive through Plaça Espanya and over Montjuïc Mountain, with its bird's-eye views of the city and waterfront, round off the day before heading back to base.

The trip was nice, informative. It was what we expected and appreciate that we maybe don't get quite enough time at the places visited. But good as a taster to perhaps go back another time to explore properly.

First stop was interesting place for shops but many not opened early. Got good idea of downtown streets on drive to the church. The church stop was long enough to see this magnificent structure. Took many pictures but being right beside church was something to remember always. Third stop was near Columbus statue. Tour guide was excellent but there was construction in one direction. Wished tour guide had empathized the Harbour area and the shops there. A long day but my wife and I enjoyed it.

Our guide was extremely good at her job.Very professional ,enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Her insight into the life of Antonio Gaudi was remarkable. Sadly the roadworks in the Ramblas reminded me so much of the UK .But not Tuis fault.

Teresa our tour guide was outstanding. She was friendly, funny & extremely knowledgeable. We received lots of interesting information & useful tips. Poble Espanyol was lovely to stroll around with amazing views & Sagrada Familia was breathtaking. Las Ramblas was a little disappointing, but overall a wonderful experience. We also had a fantastic coach driver.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Barcelona tour, Isabelle our tour guide was absolutely fabulous, she was a local so really knew the history behind everything and had some great stories, as well as this she advised where best to eat and where to find public toilets etc.. I would have liked a little more time at the Spanish village and maybe a little less at Gaudi’s cathedral as we weren’t able to go inside. Las Ramblas was being renovated, lots of building works going on so spoilt this aspect a bit.
