Two-day private desert tour from Marrakech to Zagora with overnight Bedouin camp stay

5/5
2 reviews

This two-day Sahara adventure takes you from Marrakech into the heart of southern Morocco, crossing the High Atlas Mountains, ancient kasbahs and the vast landscapes of the Draa Valley before reaching the golden dunes of Zagora. With a camel trek at sunset and an overnight stay in a desert camp, you’ll experience the Sahara at its most atmospheric, from dramatic mountain passes to sunrise over endless desert sands.

Day one begins with an early departure from Marrakech as you travel towards the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass, where winding roads reveal sweeping mountain scenery at every turn. Along the way, you’ll stop at Ait-Ben-Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most famous fortified villages, known for its striking earthen architecture. The journey continues to Ouarzazate, where you’ll enjoy lunch near the historic Kasbah of Taourirt before heading south through the Draa Valley, a landscape of palm groves and ancient settlements. By late afternoon, you’ll reach the desert outskirts near Zagora, where you’ll set off on a camel trek just as the sun begins to set over the dunes. As evening falls, arrive at your desert camp for dinner, traditional hospitality and a night spent under the stars in a Berber-style tent.

Wake early on day two to watch the sunrise over the dunes, a peaceful moment as the desert shifts in colour and light. After breakfast at the camp, you’ll ride camels back to meet your driver before beginning the return journey towards Marrakech. The route takes you once more through the Draa Valley and Ouarzazate, where you’ll have time for lunch at a local restaurant, before crossing the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka Pass and arriving back in Marrakech by evening, carrying the memory of the Sahara’s landscapes with you.
