This three-day Sahara adventure takes you from Agadir deep into the heart of Morocco’s desert landscapes at Merzouga, passing through the Atlas Mountains, ancient kasbahs and traditional Amazigh villages along the way. From saffron valleys and cinematic desert towns to the vast dunes of the Sahara, you’ll experience an unforgettable journey through culture, nature and nomadic life.
Your adventure begins as you leave Agadir and travel through the changing landscapes of southern Morocco, passing Taliouine, the capital of saffron production, and Taznakht, known for its traditional Berber carpets. Continuing towards Ouarzazate, you’ll stop to explore the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah and nearby cinema studios before enjoying a meal in town. The journey then takes you through the dramatic Dades Valley, with its rugged cliffs and oasis scenery, before arriving in Tinghir for an overnight stay surrounded by mountain landscapes.
On day two, after breakfast, you’ll explore the Tinghir oasis and surrounding valley, where palm groves sit beneath the Atlas Mountains. Continuing towards Merzouga via Arfoud, you’ll have the chance to taste a traditional local pizza before visiting Errisani, a historic desert town known for its cultural heritage. As you approach the Sahara, the landscape opens into vast dunes where you’ll prepare for an unforgettable desert experience. At camp, you’ll settle into a bivouac under the stars, with the option to join locals for traditional music and enjoy the peaceful rhythm of desert life. A sunset or sunrise walk across the dunes offers one of the most magical moments of the journey.
On day three, rise early to watch the desert light shift across the dunes before breakfast in camp. Then begin the journey back towards Agadir, retracing your route through Taznakht and Taroudant, with time to reflect on the landscapes, cultures and experiences of the Sahara before arriving back in the evening.
