With plenty of free time to explore at your own pace, this morning trip to the romantic town of Rethymnon is as relaxing as they come. You'll journey along the west coast of Crete to Rethymnon where you'll discover history, architecture and charm by the bucket-load.

As soon as you arrive you'll be able to do exactly as you please. Wander around the weekly market stalls where the aroma of fresh produce will entice you to taste local flavours, and where you'll find plenty of souvenirs. The imposing fortress is also a must-see with its maze of narrow streets that wind their way around enchanting historic buildings.

Or you can simply take it easy and stroll along the picturesque Venetian harbour to take in the vistas over the bright blue sea, colourful fishing boats and beyond. There are plenty of traditional cafés and restaurants to sit down and soak up the town's laid-back Mediterranean air.

We had a great day looking around the market, shops and restaurants. We got 3.5 hours free time once we arrived. Out guide Isobell was excellent giving plenty of information as we passes certain places in both English and German. Rethymnon is a beautiful place. Our Coach was full so the transfer was almost 3 hours for some, we were one of the last so were lucky it was only 2 for us.

Coach pickup was 45 minutes late and was so full, my wife and I had to find the last two single seats left! Some people already onboard had been there for over an hour. Had to stop on the way to let many people use a toilet.Too many pickups!. Just managed about 3 hours in Rethymnon - not long enough.

The tour was too short. After visiting the fort and finding lunch it allowed such a short time to explore. There was so much that could have been done if time permitted.

We booked the trip through the TUI office in the hotel and were advised that the transit time from hotel to destination would be an hour to an hour and a quarter subject to traffic. As it happened due to the number of pick up points and no shows the transit time was about 2 hours, thus time to enjoy the town was reduced. Somewhat disappointing.

It was expensive being only 30mins away from our resort when people had been on the coach 2 hours before our pickup and paid the same price.

Loved Rethymnon, wasn't too keen on the half hour late start, waiting by the side of the road for a taxi to arrive for some passengers to get off. Also nothing said about the two hour drive there on the advert, lovely place but if you want to go go by taxi!

We had a great day looking around the market, shops and restaurants. We got 3.5 hours free time once we arrived.
