Albania is just a short boat ride from Corfu. This often-overlooked country was closed to outsiders for decades and it's only now really beginning to flex its tourist muscles. On this full day excursion, you'll visit the ruins of ancient Butrint, go for lunch and enjoy free time in Saranda.

The tour kicks off with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Butrint. Everyone from the Greeks to Romans to Ottomans left their mark on this ancient town. Walking through its ruins is like leafing through the pages of a living history book. Highlights include the amphitheatre and temple.

A woodland stroll up to the Venetian hill fort will give you great views over the national park and the surrounding wetlands. Afterwards, you'll head for a buffet lunch in the hamlet of Karanxh. Finally there's an hour of free time to explore Saranda before returning to Corfu.

A well organised day to a country I thought I would never visit. From the ferry crossing from Corfu to Albania; to the quality of the trips together with the guide’s experience; to the lunch laid on for us ….. in all, a great day as s very reasonable cost.

We were told we would be picked up at the main gate which is up a really steep hill. We did this totally exhausted by it only when the bus came it then went down the hill to pick up other guests passport control very slow both ways. To long at the historical site totally boring 2hours is far to long and we only got 35 minutes in the town to see around which wasn't long enough. Lunch beautiful but time too short could do with longer free time.

A brilliant day trip from Corfu. Everything was very well organised from start to finish. The guide, Mira was fantastic, very informative and managed the group in a very professional manner. Her humour was also very good. We had George as our excellent driver. Although it is a long day it did not feel long. I would recommend this trip if you are in Corfu.
