Menorca’s Camí de Cavalls coastal horse-riding tour

4.7/5
160 reviews

Your inner cowboy or cowgirl will love riding on Menorca's scenic coastal trails. The route also includes a section of the Camí de Cavalls, a network of tracks dating back hundreds of years which encircles the island along the coast. Even if you're not an old hand with the horses, this experience is suitable for all levels, from beginner to expert. Many of the tracks are the only way of accessing some of Menorca's most beautiful spots. Lynn, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘A map of Menorca dating back to 1780 is the earliest to show the Camí de Cavalls, but it is likely to be even older. It was originally installed to help defend the island from invaders.'

After being matched with a horse, you'll be guided on an easy 2.5 hour ride with a picnic stop. We'll follow a seaside trail leading to a secluded beach. Lynn says ‘From the saddle, you'll have dazzling views of the sparkling waves and hidden coves that make up this island. But it's more than just landscapes; it's a taste of authentic Menorcan traditions and responsible equestrian practices.'

During the ride, you'll pause by the sea to enjoy a local-style picnic, and you can snack on traditional Menorcan pastries. There's also time to enjoy a paddle and a swim. As well as being a wonderful way of discovering Menorca's hidden countryside, riding the northern coast is a journey through the island's history. No horse-riding experience is needed and children are welcome, too, if you fancy a family outing.

Amazing from start to finish. Lovely ladies running the experience and definitely got more time on the horses than I expected. Lovely to do some trotting even with a group not so experienced.

Exceptional value for money. We had no previous riding experience but instructions were simple and at no point was I concerned for my family's safety, which includes my 6-year old son. The route led us to the coast where we enjoyed refreshments and 30 minutes free time. Our children had a brief paddle in the sea. Duration was approx 4 hours (pick up to drop off) and this included 1h 45m on the horses. The horses were immaculate and well cared for and overall it was the highlight of our holiday.

We enjoyed the day very much, the staff handled everything very well, but were quite abrupt when asked if it would be possible to take along a water bottle to drink from during the ride. The horses were quite lazy and it would have been nicer if more experienced riders could have had a trot rather than just a slow walk, it’s very obvious the horses are very used to the walk as they just follow each other in line at a slow walk, much like beach donkeys to be honest.

Absolute novices with riding. However they explained throughly. It was so relaxing, beautiful views. The horses were amazing calm well trained our nerves went pretty much as soon as we started. People that worked there were amazing too. My daughter wanted to go do it again!

Very easy to book. The experience was amazing really well lead, lots of information for a novice. Perfect time to have a picnic 😁 the staff were professional and friendly throughout. Bandanas and bumbags, what a stroke of genius, such a useful, good idea. I would absolutely recommend this. A little stiff next day but definitely worth it. My only small gripe is it’s a shame the transfer wasn’t more clear on where the pickup was, thankfully my partner ran down to the coach.

The biggest challenges were mounting and dismounting! Fortunately help is at hand. The ride was not challenging and the horses knew where to go even with novice riders on their backs. The halfway stop was at a scenic cove and the pastries were delicious!
