Guided tour of Hams Caves with Dinosaurland visit

4.2/5
297 reviews

As family outings in Majorca go, it's hard to beat this double-header to the Hams Caves and Dinosaurland. It's a spine-tingling journey into the island's pre-history, where Genesis and Titanosaur will leave you open-mouthed. Marga, one of our local guides, says, "this tour really captures the imagination as you go from one of Majorca's oldest attractions, the 10-million-year-old Hams Caves, to one of the newest, the recently opened Dinosaurland."

The Hams Caves may be millions of years old, but they were discovered only last century. And since then, they've become one of the island's top attractions. As you explore the three main caves, you'll learn about the island's original inhabitants. The semi-open Round Cave, with its botanical vegetation, has a Jurassic feel to it – and whets your appetite for what's inside. In the Blue Cave, an audiovisual timelapse documentary called Genesis recounts the history of Majorca from the Big Bang to today. And the Classic Cave, which is a network of 12 chambers, is full of mystery. There's also a soothing Venetian-inspired music show.

The mild gives way to the wild at Dinosaurland, where you'll walk among the more than 100 life-sized recreations of dinosaurs, including the mythical Titanosaurus, at more than 50 metres long. Some consider it to have been the largest species. The kids can also play at being palaeontologists, enjoy games and puzzles or try their hand at drawing. A great day out for the whole family.

The dino park was smaller than expected. We got round it so quick. And they show wasn’t for long could of been longer and let the kids have a photo with the dinosaur ( I know it’s hot for the person in the suit ) The caves were amazing

Lovely day out, but the bus picked us up late and this made the trip feel a bit rushed. The ‘guide’ was just someone on the bus transfer, not actually a tour guide at all. Great trip, but next time time I’d just get a taxi.

You can book it separately for €22 each we thought going as a tour would be better but for €153 for a family of 2 adults and 1 child it was excessive for what it was.

We would have liked more time at the dinosaurs my Sons would have liked more time but it was hot. Limited healthy options for food were available. The trip was very expensive. Guide on the coach was very helpful. My email implied I had booked a packed lunch but we were not on the list for one so I’m still not sure if we paid for it or not! I also paid for the excursion twice but this issue has been escalated and is in the process of being rectified. The caves were fantastic but again felt rushed

Was pushed and really sold to us, but was not worth the money we paid! Especially for the half a day experience . My children liked dinoworld, but very small. An hour it took at best. Caves were ok, but not something we necessarily wanted to do. They should be offered separately. My young children were bored. I wouldn’t book with TUI again and would do it separately with taxi. The transfer was good, a bit unorganised and took a while to get tickets but bus was cool and clean.
