History meets scenery on this Tramuntana Mountains tour. You'll visit the honey-stone village of Valldemossa, explore handsome Soller town and enjoy the views on a vintage train ride through mountains and valleys. Xisco, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The train is the pride of the people of Soller. Because their town was so hard to reach behind the mountains, they built the railway with their own money a century ago so they could be connected to Palma and export their famous oranges.'

Kick off in Valldemossa, a cluster of stone houses tumbling from a ridge in the heart of the Tramuntana Mountains. You can either explore the village under your own steam or join a guided tour to learn more about its history and culture. Xisco adds, ‘My favourite street in Valldemossa is Carrer Rectoria, a narrow alley is lined with potted plants. Saint Catalina Thomas was born here, and her house is now a chapel.' Then it's on to Son Marroig for a guide tour of the ravishing Renaissance-style estate overlooking the sea.

Next, we'll head to Soller, a busy town built by wealthy citrus fruit merchants. You'll have free time to explore, potter around the shops, pop into a church or two, or soak up the sun in an outdoor café. The day rolls to a close with a journey back in time on a wooden train inaugurated in 1912 and still in full working order today. This scenic ride weaves through the Sierra de Tramontanta to Son Reus, where you'll join the transfer back to base.

Amazing Tour guide Manu and skilled coach driver. The amount of detail and enthusiasm of Mallorcan history was impressive. Enough time at each destination - including time to eat at a restaurant in the square in Soller. It was hot - 38 degrees - air con in coach very welcome between stops - lovely train ride back to Palma - it has to be said this would not be easy to achieve as a independent traveller - group booking take preference - we had a whole carriage, and were fast tracked through.

Our guide was so very informative. I felt looked after and safe, especially as I am travelling alone. The views were fantastic and I feel I saw ' the real majorca' throught the whole trip. I loved the towns, being allowed a little free time to wander and take photos but still while feeling part of the group. Instructions, timings, etc, we're all given clearly. Great day out- nothing I didn't enjoy!

Juan der Reiseleiter war klasse. Dass wir uns einer rein deutschen Gruppe geführt wurden ebenso. Man könnte die Teilnehmerzahl reduzieren oder Sammelstellen einrichten.. das Abholen an zu vielen Hotels ist langwierig zumal dann erst die Anfahrt startet. Tolles Programm!

We really enjoyed our adventure around some of the most beautiful parts of Majorca. We wanted to go to Valldemosa and Soller but felt overwhelmed when organising it ourselves so we booked on the TUI experience which was stress free. There is plenty of time on the tour to relax and explore the towns. Plus the train on the way back was a brilliant way to end our trip. Finally our guide Peter was really informative, welcoming and organised. Would recommend!
