Formentor tour with boat trip and optional lunch from south and east Majorca

4.3/5
841 reviews

This excursion captures the magic of Majorca by combining some of the north's best attractions. You'll visit a farmers' market and get to know the craggy coastline of Cape Formentor, a narrow, pine-studded peninsula populated by wild herb-munching wild goats. Lluc, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘One Spanish phrase worth remembering for your market trip is “Un poco para probar, por favor”, which means “A little to try, please”. Usually, vendors are happy to give you a small taste of cheeses, olives, breads and so on, before you buy.'

Majorca's markets are famed for their variety and freshness of the produce on display. Spend a morning browsing one of the most popular weekly farmers' markets, waking up your senses with colourful displays of fruit, the aroma of freshly baked local pastries and local vendors calling out their best deals. These markets are usually set up on the church square in the villages. Lluc adds, ‘The stallholders selling just a few different types of seasonal fruit or vegetables are the ones who grow their own produce – and usually the best value.'

We'll then journey by road to Es Colomer viewpoint for a brief photo stop en route to Formentor beach. The curved, pine-fringed sandy bay boasts clear water and makes a great place to enjoy some free time. Refreshments are available at a beach café, and you can book the ‘lunch included' option to tuck into a buffet-style lunch at L'Espigó beach restaurant. To make the day extra special, we'll go by boat to or from Port de Pollença, where the seafront is lined with stylish villas and hotels from its early 20th-century golden age.

Manu the guide & Juan the driver were both great. Manu had lots of interesting info about Mallorca & Juan expertly drove the windy road to Formentor. We spent a pleasant 1.5 hours meandering between the stalls at the market. Formentor however is overated, over crowded & overpriced! The beach was so packed we literally sat on sandy grass in the shade waiting for the coach back. €70 for two beds & parasol!! An opportunity missed by TUI to reverse the boat trip & stay at lovely Pollenca instead.

The tour to the market was outstanding and then then guided tour to the boat trip was very knowledgeable about the areas on the way to the boat, then the time out in formentor was exceptional, then off to the pigeon loft the area was beautiful and then the coach trip back to the hotel was overall excellent

The driver was very skilful to navigate the difficult Formentor road; he was also friendly and approachable. The stops were enjoyable the time there appropriate to enjoy each location, however I would have liked to have been able to see the lighthouse at Cap Formentor on the boat trip but we backtracked along the coast to port de Pollenca. Guide was well-informed and it was educational listening to him as well as fun - great jokes! Not sure about the music choice but that's a personal thing!

From start to finish this was an excellent day out, Manu our your tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us advise on how to ensure our day was pleasurable for us all. We should also thank our coach driver who negotiated some narrow Z bend climbs expertly. Thank you Robert our TUI rep in Sa Coma who went above and beyond in getting the trip booked for us .
