Your first stop is the delta of the River Ebro, one of the largest wetland areas in Europe and one of Spain's premier national parks. A haven for rare plants, birds and wildlife, there's a chance to spot several species of heron like the egret or wild duck. You can choose to take a boat ride over the river or visit the on-site shop before continuing onto Peniscola.
Tightly packed into a small peninsula, Peniscola will delight with its Templar Castle and medieval walls that seem to drip down into the water. You'll have free time to visit the castle – which has been used as a location for Game of Thrones – and old town to explore its narrow streets, colourful balconies and famed ceramic shops.
