Take a trip to Akumal Monkey Sanctuary for a family-friendly guided tour. Meet the animals that call this place home – including over 20 different species – and hear about how they were rescued. You'll see colourful macaws, friendly snakes and playful monkeys, as well as learn about their natural behaviours from a knowledgeable guide. Plus, you'll find out about the sanctuary's conservation efforts – it's a great way for kids to understand why supporting these animals is so important. There are some exciting extras you can add to this tour for an extra fee too, like a swim in a cenote or snorkelling with tuirtles. Just a heads-up, transport isn't included in this tour.

We had an amazing experience, staff were all fab. Tje only disappointment was the wait for transport back to our resort, was about 1.5 hours and we altered all tired from the snorkeling and walking round the sanctuary but I would definitely recommend

Was an amazing experience! Definitely worth the money. Our tour guide was brilliant. Her name was Kary (sorry if name is spelt wrong :) ) she had very good knowledge and could see she had good passion with what she does for work. Kary answered all of our questions and ensured we were safe the whole way through the tour. Thank you for the amazing experience for our honeymoon.

For myself it was disappointing, having paid plenty of money for the monkey sanctuary and turtle watching, because it said it was ok for people of all abilities I bought this excursion, however, when it came to getting off the boat, they don't use a ladder and I couldn't jump in with my arthritis issues, so they went without me to see the turtles and took me back to the shore, let me use a ladder to climb out at the shore, then left me sat on a rock to wait for the rest of the group to return. Awful
