The volcanic isles of the caldera are a must-see when in Santorini. On this full-day cruise, you'll climb aboard a wooden sailboat and glide to Nea Kameni, Palea Kameni and Thirassia – the three volcanic islets that breach from the water – and continue along the edge of the caldera.

First up is Nea Kameni. Hike up to its crater, striding over solidified lava fields to see its steamy fumes. Take in the views over the harsh, moon-like landscapes and Santorini in the distance. Next, you'll cruise to the thermal springs of Palea Kameni, where you'll get the chance to swim in the mineral-rich waters, which can reach temperatures of 35 °C. There's also an eminently Instagrammable Orthodox chapel by the water's edge.

Head onshore to explore Thirassia and you can take a walk around its active crater, or spend some time in the hilltop village of Manolas – the views are knockout. Then, it's back on the boat to cruise along the coast, returning to Athinios port.

Organised chaos at the port with not much assistance . The guide soon got a grip and formed an orderly line to board. Once on board the trip is enjoyable and our guide was very good . We were on the Agean Soul boat .

The experience was ok and will take home some nice memories. However the organisation was terrible, dropped off a busy port without any direction, allowed to queue in the wrong queue (to board a ferry to Athens!). Entry price for the volcano not included. NTS Travel have a particularly rude travel guide called Ewelina, who was extremely rude and obnoxious to a number of tourists, including ourselves, her rudeness tainted the feel of this trip. Maybe Ewelina should not work in customer service.

On the negative side, we didn’t get to the hot springs and no explanation - just a chaotic dip in the sea in one of the coves. The tour guide took us to the first crater and then left us to explore the rest at our own pace. Good in once sense but had we not overheard the tour guide from another trip who walked the full trek, we would have likely missed the at with steam coming out / hot sand

When we arrived at the volcano we were told there it is go and walk up it and be back at a set time, that was it basically .NOT GOOD

Dropped at the port with no instructions, waited there for over an hour wandering around asking people if they know what is going on. Finally found the right queue and got on an overcrowded boat with people arguing about seats. Stressful day and a waste of money.
