Located on the Île de la Cité, Sainte-Chapelle and the Conciergerie are two jewels of French Gothic architecture and must-see attractions during a visit to Paris.
The Sainte-Chapelle, with its majestic stained glass windows, was built in the 13th century by King Louis IX to house important religious relics. Today, the chapel continues to amaze visitors with its 15 magnificent stained glass windows, each 15 meters high, and its intricate carvings featuring floral and plant motifs, along with statues of the apostles.
A short distance away is the Conciergerie, a former royal palace converted into a prison at the end of the 14th century. During the French Revolution, many members of the nobility were imprisoned here, including Queen Marie Antoinette. Today, the Conciergerie is a fascinating testament to the turbulent events that shaped French history.
