Tenerife's towering Mt Teide is the third-largest volcano in the world. And its 3,718-metre peak is the centrepiece of the UNESCO-listed Las Cañadas del Teide National Park. The actual scenery was beautiful but neither of us could understand the guide as her English was very poor. Two others we spoke to said the same thing and had to keep asking her for clarification for arrangements as we couldn't understand her. We therefore had very little information about the day and missed out on what she was telling us including rules at the cable car where she didn't come. Very very disappointed

Through no fault of your own the cable car was closed due to winds. However, the mixed language group spoilt the commentary - it seemed that the English version was always much shorter than the German and Spanish (and not just because it is a more concise language - there were some elements missing), priority seemed to be given to the German tourist. Listening to 3 language each time was tiring. Also number of pickups/drop-offs made the day tedious. Smaller bus, single language would be better.

Timing was an issue. 30 minutes late for pick up. Constantly late leaving each stop… which meant we all had little time to actually eat! So we did the full day with the option of explore Tiede, or eat. So we explored. I would have liked time for a sandwich. Or a coffee. But that wasn’t possible

Great knowledgeable tour guide. The coach pick up was 40 mins late! We contacted Tui after 20 mins late and they were quick to get back to me and let me know there was delay. The local tour operator did ring after 30 mins but it was very stressful wondering where the coach was. Apparently it was due to other participants not turning up. The cable car was not running due to bad weather which was disappointing but understandable and we were automatically refunded.

The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and the history of the volcanos. There is a small restaurant at the cable car station fit for and snacks. Please be aware that the altitude is 3500 metres at the top of the cable car, so some may have difficulty with altitude. You also need good walking shoes or trainers at the top. To get to the very top, you need to apply separately for a permit to walk up to the summit, but the views even without that are still excellent
