27 reviews

Hop aboard for a full-day boat trip to Catalina Island, a stone's throw from the south coast of the mainland. You'll drop anchor to snorkel around one of the Dominican Republic's most bustling coral reefs, La Pared, where you can spot a colourful carpet of live corals, crabs and tropical fish. Then, you'll head to dry land, where you can enjoy some beach time and tuck into lunch, Dominican-style. We loved the snorkelling and the beach was just paradise. We didn’t have food so can’t comment on this. The only reason we haven’t given a 10 is that the last driver bringing us home was driving erratically and too fast for the road conditions. We nearly got out to get a taxi. He also spent lots of time on his phone whilst driving. When confronted he laughed. With children on board this is just NOT acceptable.

The guide shared a lot of information on the way to the trip. The transfers were a little disjointed but everyone got there in the end! Be aware, there is a steep walk down to the boat and back, and quite a choppy boat ride out to the island. However, the island looked beautiful, the water was crystal clear. The family enjoyed the snorkeling- lasted about 45 mins- seeing lots of different fish. The food on the island is rustic but tasty. Police around to keep you safe whole you swim snd relax.

VERY long transfer from Bahia Ambar (almost 2.5 hours). Snorkelling was great. Catalina is beautiful, but very "sell-y". Offered to purchase seafood along with buffet - lobster was $60, 12 shrimp on skewers was $20. Market stall on the beach. Boat there and back was great, with fantastic crew - not a party/get-up-and-dance boat. Would recommend if relaxing on Saona not your thing.

The day started off with getting picked up 40 minuites late from the pick up time we was given. Once we got to Catalina island we did 30 minuites of snorkeling the coral reef was very bleached and didn’t corespond with the pictures. After we did the snorkeling we had to wait 1 hour 15 minuites on the boat to be taken to shore because the boat was over crowded. We the only got a tiny section of the beach. The tour was well overcrowded and was very poor would not recommend was very disappointed
