Day Trip to Greek Island of Rhodes

3.8/5
59 reviews

You can add another stamp to your passport on this day trip, as you trade Turkey for Greece on a short hop across the Aegean Sea to the island of Rhodes.

You'll be welcomed at Fethiye port and guided straight to the priority boarding area. Then, jump on board a catamaran for a cruise across to Rhodes town. Here, you can explore the capital's pretty harbour, walled old quarter and upmarket New Town. You'll spend the morning ticking off sights like the charming Street of the Knights and the huge Palace of the Grand Masters. Make your way along the maze of cobbled streets, where you'll be surrounded by fountains, medieval churches and shops selling handmade goods and Greek delicacies.

Speaking of food, you'll have a choice of hidden bistros or bustling waterfront bars for lunch. Later, you can head to Mandraki harbour. It was once home to the legendary Colossus of Rhodes – one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. And if you fancy seeing more of the island, hop on the land train, which takes you up to the ancient Olympic ruins and offers sweeping views across the sea.

The name "All day tour" is inaccurate, as it gives the impression that customers can spend all day in Rhodes. Realistically half the day is spent travelling to Greece. And you have bearly 4 hours in Rhodes. During this time, you have to navigate an unfamiliar town, eat something, and see some historic sites. And that's with a 6.30am start in Turkey. There are always minor delays and you will almost certainly get back after dinner service has ended so buy some food in Rhodes, to have for dinner.

There were very long queues at passport control, almost one hour, which significantly reduced the time available for the city tour. This information was not mentioned anywhere in advance. In addition, we had to pay a port fee.
