On the 19th of September 2021 a new volcanic crater was formed near La Palma. The volcano previously known as Cumbre Vieja erupted, completely changing the landscape west of the city. Hiking 6.5km on the newly christened Tajogaite – cracked mountain – you'll almost reach the crater. From here, awesome views of the lava flows and the Aridane Valley open up.

This experience is breathtaking. When do you get to walk on a cooling volcano?! With the added information, photos and film from the guide it was a brilliant hike. The top experience in the Canaries. Brilliantly organised. Five stars.

We wasn’t told to take warm clothing as the morning at the start point was cold, damp and very windy. You should probably advise future customers to take warm clothing. We were on a tour ran by Isla bonita tours and the only tu customers on the trip, everyone else was dressed for the conditions.

Excellent trip and hike. Advised to wear walking boots or shoes due to the terrain and something warm to wear as the temperature drops when reaching the to of the hike Missed some information on the bus back as the guide didn't have a microphone.
