Casa Batlló is one of Barcelona’s most iconic buildings and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Designed by Antoni Gaudí, this architectural masterpiece immediately catches the eye with its flowing forms, colourful mosaics and almost fairy-tale-like appearance. A visit to Casa Batlló is a must during any stay in the city.
Between 1904 and 1906, Gaudí completely transformed the building on behalf of businessman Josep Batlló. What had originally been a conventional house dating from 1875 became a work of art in its own right. The façade, covered in shimmering ceramic tiles, is often said to reflect the colours and movement of the Mediterranean Sea. The roof, which resembles the back of a dragon, references the Catalan legend of Saint George (Sant Jordi).
The interior is just as remarkable. As you move through the house, you'll discover flowing spaces with hardly a straight line in sight and rooms that evoke an underwater world. Thanks to the central lightwell, lined with blue tiles, natural light reaches every corner of the building.

Casa Batlló is accessible to wheelchair users.
Pets are allowed under the supervision of their owners and with staff approval.
Baby carriers are available for children under 2, and there is a designated area for pushchairs.
The audio guide is available in 15 languages, including Dutch, English, Spanish, Catalan, Italian, Portuguese, French, German and Polish.
Photography is permitted throughout the visit.
There is a gift shop selling souvenirs and products inspired by Barcelona and Gaudí.
Admission is free for children under 12.

Casa Batlló is open daily from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm, with last entry at 9:30 pm.
The ticket office is open until 9:00 pm.
