Madeira is a nature lover's paradise, and with levadas criss-crossing the countryside, you can easily explore its natural beauty. This easy 11km walk takes you to the hidden corners of the island through the mystical Laurisilva forest from São Jorge in the north of the Madeira.

Once you've joined up with your guide in São Jorge, you'll set off on a four-and-a-half-hour walk along the levada trail. You'll get an insight into the native herbal and medicinal plants of the country as well as the chance to spot all kinds of flora and fauna as you go such as laurel, heather, chaffinches and many more. Along the way, the trail unveils a truly magical encounter—a cascading waterfall, where
you may walk through its refreshing mist or even step behind its shimmering veil.

We'll walk through the unique ancient laurel forest – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – within the Madeira Natural Park. Soak up its beauty and cooling atmosphere, and enjoy exploring the north of the island as well as its villages before heading back to your hotel with your camera filled with breathtaking landscapes.

Reiseführerin sehr angenehm und tolle Begleiterin auf dem Weg. Note: 10+ Der Kleinbus zum Abholen hatte so enge Sitzreihen, dass man sich ab 1,80 m Körpergröße auf fast allen Plätzen die Kniescheiben quetscht. Da sollte eine Reihe raus und mit größerem Sitzabstand kommen auch große Leute schmerzfrei an das Ziel. Note: 0-

Voor mij was het een fantastische wandering geweest. Het mooiste was wie wij vertrokken was het heel mooi weer en de terug weg was nevelig en op het laatste een beetje regen. Heb de tour dus op twee verschillende manieren meegemaakt de vrouwelijke gids was super goed. Ze vertelde ook over hoe de natuur ook wat befriend wordt door de vreemde planten, het was echt top.

The guide was excellent - seemed very knowledgeable and answered our questions happily. It would have been good to have composting toilets near the picnic site or somewhere along the way instead of everybody going in the same area in the bushes and leaving tissues. There was nowhere else to go.
