Three-day Luquina family homestay with Lake Titicaca island tour

Living with a local family is your window into the Andean community on this three-day Peruvian homestay. Leaving Puno, you’ll head to the village of Luquina, nestled on the shores of Lake Titicaca, which straddles the border of Peru and Bolivia – it’s also the highest navigable lake in the world. On your first night here, you’ll meet your hosts, settle into your homestay and tuck into a traditional dinner prepared with fresh regional ingredients. It’s your first glimpse into lakeside family life before bedding down for the night.

After breakfast on day two, you'll cruise across Lake Titicaca to the unique man-made archipelago of the Uros Floating Islands. They’re woven from reeds and are where indigenous communities live, fish and sell their handmade textiles. While out on the lake, you’ll visit Taquile Island too – it’s a real contrast with its terraced hillsides and Andean farming. But, guided by community members, both islands will help you delve into the local customs, ancestral traditions and authentic life on the lake. After lunch on the island, it’s time to head back to Luquina, where you’re in for a home-cooked dinner, followed by a cultural feast, featuring traditional dances performed by the community. The day wraps up with a bonfire under the starlit sky.

The next day, you'll bid your hosts farewell and make the drive back to Puno, taking incredible memories of Lake Titicaca and the warm hospitality of the Luquina community with you.
