The Aeolian Islands are a true natural paradise and can be easily explored on a day trip from Tropea. Spend a full day on this island-hopping tour – the archipelago is a UNESCO World Heritage Site – taking in Vulcano, the charming port town of Lipari and the active volcanic island of Stromboli.

Relax into your journey across the Tyrrhenian Sea, with a good chance of wild dolphins escorting you some of the way to your first port of call – Stromboli. Enjoy dramatic views of the island's dominating feature – the active volcano that towers above all else. With any luck, you'll get to witness one of its eruptions, known to the locals as the Sciara del fuoco – ‘Stream of fire'.

Then it's on to soak up the charm of the pastel-coloured, thriving fishing port of Lipari – the largest town on the island of the same name. Your last stop on this is Vulcano, where you'll get to relax and take a dip in the hot waters warmed by sulphuric vapours from the seabed, in view of a steaming volcanic crater.

Really loved visiting all 3 volcanic islands and experiencing a gas field along with enjoying local villages. However the ticket says 8 hours and it was a 13 hour trip and many missed dinner. The tour should be better explained at booking including fact on big and busy boat and that you’ll have plenty of time on 3 islands. We weren’t prepared for such a long day.

Though there was a Tui Rep on the boat she did not act as a guide at all - not sure why she was even there. The trip itself was too long as we set off at 6.45 am but did not get back to our hotel until 8.00 pm. All Tui supplied was a coach to and from the port. The islands themselves were interesting but there was no direction from anyone on what to do or see.

Lipari and Stromboli were absolutely worth visiting - Lipari is stunning and has some incredible historic areas to visit. We adored seeing Stromboli and listing to all the facts and information. Vulcano was disappointing, it’s very run down and not an awful lot going on beside a bit of food and shopping. We couldn’t do the sightseeing we thought we would be able to and it put a huge downer on the morning.
