Bike tour of Versailles Palace and Gardens including Marie-Antoinette's village

4.3/5
3 reviews

Spend your day biking leisurely through Versailles' town, local food market, royal grounds, Marie Antoinette's village and of course- to the Chateau itself.

Meet your guide for the departure in Paris and start a truly memorable day trip to Versailles! After a short train ride from Paris, you’ll spend your day cruising through Versailles’ royal forests, into local food markets, to picnic by the Grand Canal, inside Marie Antoinette’s village, and to the infamous chateau. Most tours miss the best parts of Versailles on foot, but on the bikes- we'll see it all!

This tour is about escaping the hustle and bustle of Paris, hearing all the fun stories and quirky anecdotes. It’s about food markets, cheese, wine, Marie Antoinette, tree-lined gardens, and a fantastic day in the French countryside.

What you'll see and experience:

The Chateau
You’ll have free time to explore the infamous chateau, the hall of mirrors, royal apartments, royal chapel and more at your own pace. Chateau tickets and audio-guides are included in the tour price.

The Versailles farmer’s market
We’ll stop here to buy supplies for our picnic lunch in the gardens. Baguettes, cheese, pastries, wine and more available (not included in tour price).

The Versailles forest and Grand Canal
We’ll spend the day biking in the royal forest, by the famous grand canal, and along tree-lined paths, where France’s royalty once walked.

Marie Antoinette’s village
We’ll get a rare look inside the village and farm she designed in the Versailles forest- to indulge herself and escape the rules of the chateau. This is where legend has it, she dyed her sheep pink!

The Grand and Petit Trianons
Used as summer houses for the royalty, we’ll pass by these two beautiful mini-chateau’s in the Versailles forest. Louis XV, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Charles de Gaulle all spent time here.

The Chateau Gardens
One of Versailles' true masterpieces & Louis XIV's playground, the Chateau gardens are truly unforgettable.

They canceled our trip w only a few days notice, didn’t help us get a replacement activity and since it was so last minute, we couldn’t book another bike tour- we were left high & dry

Everything was very good, our guide, Dave, was very informative telling us all sorts of interesting anecdotes about the history and people of Versailles. Learnt things that I wouldn’t have found out in the guide books. The cycling was easy, only a couple of small inclines.
