Grand Egyptian Museum and Giza Pyramids by plane from Sharm

4.6/5
61 reviews

Opened in 2025, the Grand Egyptian Museum is the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilisation. You’ll wander among more than 100,000 artefacts, all shown off in a modern space that brings Egypt’s past to life. Noura, one of our local expert guides, says, “This TUI Collection experience makes everything simple; you’ll fly from Sharm to Cairo, see the Pyramids up close, visit GEM and check out Tutankhamun’s treasures .”

Your adventure starts in Sharm El Sheikh, where you’ll be picked up at your accommodation and whisked off to the airport. After a quick flight to Cairo, you’ll head straight for Giza Plateau, home to the pyramids and the Great Sphinx. Built over 4,500 years ago, these incredible structures formed the royal burial complex for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure. You’ll have time to roam the site and stand beneath the Sphinx. After that, you’ll grab lunch at a local spot.

Then, it’s time to step inside GEM itself. You’ll head up the Grand Staircase, passing 64 massive monuments that walk you through the rise of Egypt’s greatest kings. As you drift through the galleries, you’ll feel ancient Egypt revealing itself bit by bit in a way that’s fascinating and easy to take in. You’ll also get to see the Tutankhamun Gallery, where over 5,000 of his treasures are displayed side by side for the first time since their discovery in 1922. After a jam-packed day of eye-opening history, you’ll make your way back to Sharm.

The whole day was absolutely amazing. Our guide was fantastic and was extremely knowledgable. We even got to go on a sunset Nile boat ride, which was the highlight of the trip. It is a very long day, made longer as our return flight was delayed by 1 hour. But overall we all had a fantastic day.

We thoroughly enjoyed the experience at the Pyramids, seeing the sphinx, with an included lunch at a TUI hotel. We spent the afternoon at the GEM museum which was incredible. Our day was completed with a cruise down the Nile which was an extra but worth it. We had such a knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide; Habib, who made our day extra special and certainly bought our day in Cairo to life! The security guard was a necessity and certainly looked after us as went above and beyond on 21/9/26

The value for money was 10/10 for what you get. The guide was 10/10 who was very knowledgable and kept us informed and safe. Only critic was the length of time at the pyramids itself could’ve been longer and taken to the tomb you could enter. Just be prepared for a long day as ours was 4am pick up and got back at 11pm.

Grand Egyptian Museum & Giza Pyramids Day Trip from Sharm El Sheikh (by Plane) This was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our trip to Egypt and an experience that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. Although it was a very long day, with a 4:00am hotel pick-up and returning after 10:00pm, every moment was worth it for the incredible memories we made. Choosing to travel by plane rather than bus was definitely the right decision. It significantly reduced the amount of time spent travell

The start was disappointing: late bus, rushed security and an unexpected £6 visa stamp charge, which TUI had not explained. But our tour guide was absolutely exceptional! His incredible knowledge, passion, kindness and organisation made our Cairo experience unforgettable. He made the pyramids, Grand Museum and Nile cruise truly special. He went above and beyond and is a real credit to TUI. Please identify him and pass on our heartfelt thanks—he made an unforgettable day for my family.
