Turtle walks with marine biologist

4.6/5
919 reviews

If you're a wildlife lover, then watching nesting turtles is a must-do while in Sal. And this evening excursion takes you to beaches on the island where loggerhead turtles come up to the shore and nest so that you can experience up close nature in action.

After pick-up and transfer from your hotel, your guide will lead you to the nesting beaches around Sal. In small groups, you'll walk along the beach at night and watch out for loggerhead turtles making their way up onto the sand.

If we're lucky enough to spot a turtle, you'll have to sit down and stay as quiet as possible so as not to disturb them as they nest. Your guide will tell you everything they know about these fascinating creatures and how their welfare is the top priority for the island. It's a magical experience not to be missed.

We were lucky to not have to wait very long to see a turtle - we understand that the night before the group waited over 2 hours. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and kept us informed throughout as to what to expect. An amazing experience.

We had a brilliant time/experience, can't fault it. The only thing it was quite hard to walk in the sand without a light.

Our guide was very informative, gave some great explanations and detailed information on the life of loggerhead turtles. She explained everything from birth, growing up, mating and returning to the beach she was born on to lay her own egg's. Her life as a young turtle and all the dangers she would have faced. I can't remember her name, but she was absolutely brilliant, and we thanked her for such a fantastic evening out.

Très belle expérience. Pas sûr que le nombre de personnes présente ne génère pas un stress chez la tortue. Distance sur la plage parfois très grande et sur terrain accidenté ce qui peut poser un problème pour les personnes âgées

Patrick and Sarah were great. We had Patrick when our group split, very informative, knowledgeable and passionate about the turtles. We were lucky enough to see eggs being laid also some hatchlings making their way into the sea. Perfect trip
