Half-day guided volcano and wine tour in southern Lanzarote

4.1/5
22 reviews

Spend an afternoon in southern Lanzarote on this half-day guided tour, combining volcanic landscapes with local flavours. As your guide Carlos says, “southern Lanzarote's got a vibe all of its own, with lava cliffs, vineyards growing out of craters and sunsets that'll make you stop and stare.”

You'll kick things off in the village of Yaiza, known for its traditional white buildings, palm-lined streets and quiet atmosphere. A stroll through the Plaza de los Remedios is the ideal introduction to this laidback, rural part of the island. Next, you'll take a look at the coastal scenery during a walk along Playa Montana Bermeja, where black volcanic sand meets the Atlantic Ocean. Then, swing by a small family-run winery offering more than just a taste. Surrounded by volcanic landscapes, it produces authentic wines using traditional methods, with vines grown in ash-filled hollows protected by stone walls. As Carlos puts it, “it's not just about sipping wine – it's about an immersive atmosphere where every detail from the décor to the story feels like stepping into a family archive, and where wine is made by hand with minimal intervention.”

Finally, you'll wrap up your tour at Volcan del Cuervo, a volcanic crater in the middle of La Geria – AKA wine country. It's one of Lanzarote's most accessible volcanic sites – you can walk right into the crater – and was born during the massive Timanfaya eruptions that began in 1730. You'll arrive just before sunset, the perfect time to take it all in as the sun sets across the lava fields.

Communication was poor, we were sitting at the rear of the vehicle and couldn’t hear what she was saying, the guide didn’t accompany us on the walk to point anything out, only given one wine to taste at the winery, should have been three according to the description, a little cheese, no tuna, very little talk from the host, stop at the village was too short, hardly time to look at anything, then stopped at a beach for half an hour when we could have stopped at the previous place for longer!

The overall experience was very good. The wind, on the day, was very strong and made for heavy going to and from the volcano but we made it there and back.

Guide, Daniel was knowledgeable and easy to speak to . He made us all feel welcome and updated. Day was enjoyable especially wine tasting with history of Bodega. We think the last 2 stops could have swapped the time around... more time in Yaiza. Volcano walk was also Very enjoyable even though windy was worth the walk. Half day so not too tiring and long.. just right.

Our guide Daniel was fantastic, and answered any questions. It would have been great to learn a bit more about how the grapes are grown and the wine is made. The black sand beach at sunset was a brilliant detour and was beautiful. Overall a really good trip.

Anbefales!
