Swap the road for the sea and hop on a boat from Benidorm to Villajoyosa – it's a scenic little voyage along the coast that beats sitting in traffic any day. Once you dock, a bus will zip you straight to the town's lively market scene. When you arrive, it's time to go off and wander on your own during a few hours of free time. Check out the markets stalls – around 100 of them – and pick up some sweet treats. You'll have time to pop into the famous Valor Chocolate Museum, too, if you fancy it, one of Spain's most iconic chocolate brands.

The boat journey to Villajoyosa took 1 hour with no guide or commentary about the coastline before being dropped off in a smelly fish port. We then got on the bus transported to markets which were mainly fake bags and football shirts. We left after an hour and found our own way back by tram as there is very little to do in this town considering we had 6 hours to spend before we could get on the boat again. Overall a disappointing experience, save your money!
