If you've been on Benidorm beach, you'll have spotted a mysterious rocky outcrop in the horizon. Locals call it Peacock Island because of the birds that make it their home – and at just 3.5km away, it makes a great trip by boat from the mainland.

You'll board the boat for the 30-minute cruise to Benidorm Island – its real name – and then have free time to wander around it at your own pace. There's a café down by the quay and there are marked pathways going up to the lighthouse, which is on a cliff with a 73m drop to the sea.

And from the summit, you'll enjoy great views of the coastline, which stretches all the way from Alicante in the south to the Puig Campana mountain to the north.

Trips to Benidorm Island depart from Benidorm Port on the indicated days, starting at 10:00am, approximately every 50 minutes depending on capacity and the minimum visit duration is two hours

New refurbished, opened in June. The reception is beautiful, however need to sort out the drainage issue, for an entrance the smell is not nice. Also, I don't smoke, however my friend does, the smoking area was outside in a very social area, now its outside reception on the steps, (we all called them the naughty steps) covered with drink bottles, not ideal after a refurbishment, people sitting on the entrance steps to the reception.

Voor wie van natuur houd, een mooie uitstap. Je moet wel de moeite doen om tot bovenaan de rots te klimmen. Meeuwen met jongen kunnen agressief zijn! Is dus een licht avontuurlijke klim.
