Good trip. Long day but worth it. Cable car and 4x4 to 2900. Good guide at the top, very interesting talk. Showed us steam, ice. Good view when clouds pass over. After 4x4 15min walk uphill. Guide good at waiting for slow walkers.

Didn’t get to 2900m on mount Etna due to queues that were taking an hour to get the 4x4 buses, only got up to top of cable car as wouldn’t have time in the 2 hours allotted to get to the top and back. Unfortunately due to guide saying no matter how long it took if weren’t back in 2 hours would wait for us. Some people took this literally and we had to wait for 4 hours for them to get back which meant we only had 1.25 hours in Taomina and didn’t return to Cefalu until after 9pm.

The guide on the coach was excellent. The guide at Mt Etna we had no contact with on arrival we just had to follow the group. On the day the wind was very strong. The route to the highest point was by foot and a short cut was being taken, because of the wind. We were being sand blasted by ash and the route up a hill was difficult for many. Some said it may be OK when we get to the other side. But we didn't know and turned back as did many others.

The worst part was the long bus ride, which was of course unavoidable. Everything else was great, the guide was incredibly engaged and we learned a lot. As improvement: a detailed itinerary would be very good to see, with potential delays marked down. Things like how long a bus ride takes from A to B, how much time in total there is (we were on time but the guide did mention that the "free" time depends on how quick we are in general).

It was a very long day Our guide Roberta, and driver Cosmo were excellent. Lots of information given. Cosmos took us right into central Taourmina so we didn't need shuttle
