Mount Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe and a true icon of Sicily. This is your chance to venture either 1,900 or 2,900 metres above sea level to check out the lunar-like landscapes of the volcano's craters.

You'll be driven from Taormina up the slopes of Mount Etna, where – if you've chosen to go up to 2,900 metres – you'll continue further up the mountain to reach the main crater for a guided walk and some epic views. If you opt to stay at 1,900 metres, there's free time to explore the nature trails around the Silvestri Craters, along with souvenir shops, cafés and a small museum that tells the story of the mountain's past.

Either way, you'll want your camera to catch shots of the snow-capped, steaming slopes of this giant.

Overall, our half day tour of mount Etna was excellent. Fabio was our guide from the start to the end and he was fabulous. He gave a running commentary on mount Etna, its surrounding area, its history and I learnt a lot from this. Fabio also showed us personal videos of mount Etna erupting that he had taken which were amazing. Because we had only taken the halfway trip on mount Etna, Fabio advised us what we could do at this halfway point whilst he took the rest of the group to the top.

The Etna experience was great but more than that, our guide Fabio and the coach driver Natalia made it all the more pleasurable. They are a great double act , Natalia with his amazing driving skills and Fabio with his wealth of information delivered with humour.

Fabio is an excellent tour guide. His knowledge, and enthusiasm is fabulous. This is the 2nd trip we have done on our holiday, and Fabio was our guide both times. He excelled on each trip. I would 100% recommend doing the Etna tour to anybody. We did the 2900m option and it was amazing.

Great trip, but timings were awful. Delayed by 30 mins at start with no knowledge of why (you insist on our emails and contact numbers but can’t update us with delay information!). So delayed by 30 mins due to a road accident and told we’d return at 1:15 instead of 12:30, only to leave at 1:45 because people returned so late to the bus. We got back to the bus station at 4:30 instead of 2:30! 2 hour delay! I appreciate there was an accident delaying the start but it just got worse after that!
