Mostar City with optional guided tour, Ottoman home visit and Turkish coffee

4/5
296 reviews

East meets west in Mostar – a city where minarets and church spires rise above ancient stone houses. You'll cross the border into Bosnia and Herzegovina and discover sights such as the world‑famous Stari Most bridge and the bustling bazaar. Mostar is a melting pot of cultures and religions, with an old town full of grand Ottoman and Habsburg‑era buildings. Historic minarets and imposing cathedrals rise in the shadow of the 2,000‑metre Mt Velez.

If you've opted for the full experience, your guide will lead you through the cobbled old bazaar, into a well‑preserved traditional Ottoman home and inside one of the many mosques. You'll also enjoy a coffee served in a traditional Turkish house. Afterwards, you'll have free time to explore at your own pace. You can browse old craft shops or enjoy lunch overlooking the Insta‑perfect Stari Most bridge on the River Neretva.

If you prefer something simpler, you can choose the option that only includes transport to Mostar and a guide on the coach. It's ideal if you'd rather explore independently once you arrive.

A couple of stops but mainly on the bus, you get around an hour with a walking guide around an hour free time but that’s spent trying to get back over the bridge, back up to the bus.Luckily at boarder control there was no queue even guide was surprised but you could be waiting an hour if not more. I found shocking was told if you wasn’t back at the bus by 2:10 they would leave which heighten my anxiety making sure we were back over busy bridge but it’s beautiful country. Reduced mobility no go!

The excursion was very good. The guide on the coach was very informative but unfortunately not very approachable when asking questions. The guide in Mostar was however, excellent very knowledgeable and gave us the opportunity to ask questions. A beautiful city with a lot of heritage. If we have to be picky would have like to have had an earlier pick up from hotel to allow more time in Mostar. Two hours after the guided tour had finished was very tight to get something to eat and look around.

The tour was very good and well organised. The coach was a little late because a guest before our pick up forgot their passport and had to go back and get it. Both the guides on the tour were excellent and very informative. Mostar old town is very pretty and full of history. It was a long day not getting back till 19.00 in the evening, most of the time being lost at border control because of new passport regulations on both sides which was annoying but nothing to do with Tui .

The issue with this tour is it takes 2 hours of the day to get through the border, the trip needs to be one trip from Kolocep direct no pick ups, in a mini bus to avoid longer travelling times & to guarantee meeting the ferry for 8pm transfer. Both trips through the border meant we had to get an unplanned speedboat back at TUI expense. Tom was a great tour guide & knew his facts. Not enough time at Mostar the only thing is cutting down the travelling time /pickups. Not enough free time.

Long wait at border crossing on the way back. Otherwise a wonderful day. The guide on the bus was excellent. The guide on the tour of Mostar was exceptional.
