After transferring from your hotel, you'll meet your French-speaking guide and head straight into the heart of this UNESCO-listed gem. Think polished limestone streets, terracotta rooftops and centuries of history tucked into every stone.

This walking tour of the old town brings you an impressive line-up of sights in the cool of the morning. The area's packed with Baroque churches, Venetian houses and ornate palaces. Not to mention designer shops and homey restaurants, splashing fountains and bell towers. All of which you'll spot during the tour.

Top billing, though, has to go to the chunky walls and battlements that surround the city. Places don't come much prettier than this – no wonder the poet Byron dubbed it ‘the pearl of the Adriatic'. After the tour, you'll have free time to explore under your own steam.

The tour was good and the guide knowledgeable and interesting but the group was way too big and I couldn't get close enough to hear her so gave up and just wandered around after her. The group number should be limited or just have more guides to reduce the number in each group. It was good value to get the tour but I counted 30 -35 in the group, I think you could afford another guide

Nice to be told about the history but sometimes hard to understand her accent but it was advertised as a 2-4 hour experience. All over in just over an hour and that included the guide receiving a few phone calls . Not good value at £35 for 80 mins

The staff at Hotel Lapad were friendly & respectful - & always gave great service. The rooms were cleaned to a high standard. Hotel situated 10 minutes walk from beach, with the clearest water, you can see shoals of fish swimming right up to the shoreline, best sea swimming I have had for a long time.
