Summer itinerary

You will collect your tickets and itinerary at Euston Station and enjoy your train journey to Oxenholme. On arrival at Oxenholme you will be met by a local guide, who will take you on a tour of the Lake District. Enjoy a spectacular cruise on Lake Coniston and visit the medieval village of Hawkshead, an enchanting combination of whitewashed houses and cobbled streets. We make our way to Hill Top Farm, home of Beatrix Potter and the inspiration for so many of her characters. Then to Wray Castle, built in 1840 in the Gothic Revival style and where Beatrix Potter enjoyed several holidays as a child. The grounds of the castle offer splendid views over Lake Windermere. A highlight of the visit to the Lake District is afternoon tea at the Lindeth Howe Country Hotel, once home to Beatrix Potter. You will be taken back to Oxenholme Station for the train back to London.

Winter Itinerary

On the winter itinerary for this tour, you will explore the places associated with Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth. You will travel north alongside Lake Windermere to Waterhead and then from here you drive to the medieval village of Hawkshead where you'll have time to explore this fascinating village. Continuing on towards the renowned beauty spot of Tarn Hows, you will stop for a photo before driving through Yewdale, passing Yew Tree Tarn and Skelwith Bridge. Your next destination is the charming setting of Rydal Mount & Gardens once home to the famous poet William Wordsworth. Here you can enjoy a guided tour of the house & garden and a delightful cream tea before returning back to Bowness for some free time to look around the picturesque village. You will be taken back to Oxenholme Station for the train back to London.
