Northeast highland coastline and fishing villages tour from Aberdeen

Explore the wild landscapes of northeast Scotland on a full-day tour from Aberdeen. Begin at Spey Bay, a beautiful coastal reserve known for its vast shingle beach, where you can take in the scenery and, with a bit of luck, spot dolphins along the shoreline.

Continue to the charming village of Portknockie to admire Bow Fiddle Rock, a striking natural sea arch shaped by centuries of wave action. A short stop in Cullen offers time to sample the famous local speciality, Cullen Skink, or enjoy a walk through this picturesque harbour town.

In the afternoon, visit Portsoy, home to the oldest harbour on the Moray Coast, and browse small shops offering jewellery crafted from distinctive Portsoy marble. The journey then leads to the Bullers of Buchan, where dramatic cliffs and sea caves create an impressive coastal landscape, ideal for spotting seabirds or simply enjoying the views.

The final stop is Slains Castle, a ruined clifftop fortress overlooking the North Sea, said to have inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula. After taking in the atmosphere and scenery, return to Aberdeen along scenic coastal and countryside routes, arriving in the early evening.
