Antalya Old Town tour with Karpuzkaldiran Waterfall visit

4.1/5
650 reviews

Thundering over cliffs into the Mediterranean, the Karpuzkaldiran waterfall is a sight to behold. They're the appetiser before heading into Antalya old town for a guided walking tour and some free time to explore. Derya, one of our expert local guides, says, "a place I always recommend is the bazaar, a great spot to soak up local culture while you browse for souvenirs. Walking through the busy lanes you can find traditional Turkish craft products like ceramics, textiles and jewellery, as well as loose tea, spices and lots of clothes and accessories."

After a photo stop by the waterfall, we'll head into Antalya old town, also known as Kaleici. You'll have an hour's guided tour through the maze of narrow streets lined with traditional Ottoman-style houses, before enjoying free time to explore. The area is full of history and culture, and there are a few standout monuments to look out for. Hadrian's Gate is an ancient Roman fortification built in honour of Emperor Hadrian, who visited the city in 130 AD, while the Yivli Minaret Mosque, dating back to the 13th century, is a fine example of Seljuk architecture and boasts an iconic redbrick fluted minaret.

If you want to grab some lunch, look out for typical Turkish dishes such as gözleme, a savoury stuffed pastry, and doner kebab. For dessert, try baklava, a sweet pastry made with layers of filo dough and honey. And if you want sea views as a side, head to harbour, where there are plenty of waterfront restaurants.

The guide was very good. We had 45 minutes at the waterfalls, and maybe 45 minutes with the guide around town, he was very good, then 2 hours or more for shopping so that was disappointing. For €50 not good value at all unless you like shopping.

Firstly the tour guide was very knowledgeable, and friendly. Waterfall stop was a bit of an anticlimax, stopped at a park to look at the falls from the side with loads of other tours, so trying to appreciate it was a bit hard. Old town was beautiful but after the walking tour there was barley any "free time" to soak it in and look properly. Over a hundred pounds for 4 of us for pretty much a coach trip. Everything seemed very rushed. A bit disappointed.

Mosey our tour guide was excellent. He was very concise and made the whole experience extremely enjoyable. It was our first visit to Antalya and he was very happy to answer all our questions on the history and geography especially on the old town district. The marina area was most pleasing and all the pleasure boats were beautifully presented and accessible. There were plenty of toilets available on the whole visit and we have absolutely nothing to complain about. Well done TUI and many thanks X

Picked up, driver didn’t have our names, he called someone (guide I think) he told me it’s fine get on the bus!! Drove to Antalya, drove around a bit looking for the guide, he finally found the petrol station where the guide was, we had to get off the bus and on another bus. Guide took us to shop and overcharged
