Step inside the historic Kasımpaşa Mevlevihanesi, one of Istanbul’s earliest Sufi lodges, to experience a whirling dervish ceremony.
The experience begins with a short introduction in Turkish and English, followed by a ney flute performance before the dervishes begin their meditative whirling dance, performed in four sacred sections symbolising the soul’s journey toward the Divine.
Explore on-site exhibits including Tekke artefacts, a Dervish trousseau collection, and an upstairs gallery featuring calligraphy and rare manuscripts. Informational booklets are available in multiple languages to enhance your visit.
Unlike a stage performance, this is a genuine religious ceremony held in an active Mevlevi lodge. There are no lights or applause—only silence, reflection, and spiritual atmosphere.
