Full-day Khao Sok tour with elephant sanctuary and bamboo rafting

4.8/5
663 reviews

Are you ready for an adventure with a uniquely Khao Sok touch? Uncover some of Thailand's best-kept secrets on an exclusive tour that ticks all the boxes. You'll combine a variety of activities, ranging from the cultural to the natural. Haggle with locals in a market, meet elephants at a sanctuary and mingle with monkeys in a temple. Tina, one of our expert local guides, says, "You'll be able to see just how the workers here look after the elephants, including how they get in the water with the animals. You'll see this for yourself, and help out the sanctuary staff by preparing the elephant's food."

The fun begins at Takuapa market, where you'll get to taste fresh Thai fruit while meeting the locals. We move it up a gear next at the viewpoint in Khao Sok National Park, before a trip to the local rainforest sanctuary to meet the elephants. The sanctuary is where elderly elephants, who are unable to work, live their daily lives. Once you have helped out with the prep, you'll be able to prepare healthy treats for the elephants and walk with them through the tropical jungle.

And, there's more to come. Snap up some pics at the viewpoint in Khao Sok National Park, before arriving at a restaurant to tuck into a traditional Thai lunchtime feast. As it that wasn't enough, you'll get to try river bamboo rafting, sailing along the river before wrapping things up with a sense of zen at ‘Monkey Cave'. Inside is serene and beautiful, with an intricately decorated shrine and often monks praying. You might also catch sight of birds and bats in the cave, but the monkeys generally stay outside.

The whole trip was fabulous. Packed a lot into the time, but it didn’t feel rushed. Our guide (Noak) was great and she was super friendly. The Elephant Park was all about caring for the elephants and we helped feed, wash and care for them. The bamboo rafting was very relaxing and the boat men pointed out wildlife out to us. Beautiful temple and friendly, but not overly so, small monkeys. The market was interesting!

The guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable. Marget was attentive to our needs, she had a great relationship with the bamboo rafters and staff at the elephant sanctuary. She and our driver, Mr. Big, work very well together, including when they demonstrated making the Thai soup. Mr. Big was on hand to take photos, he held our belongings when we got in the river to rinse the elephants and kept us supplied with refreshments all day.

Rafting a few safety issues with bamboo raft, not in best of condition & some had split / very precarious getting on & off / not enforced to wear life jacket , these were used a seat pads / raft nearly capsized after getting stuck on rocks Driver & your guide absolutely stars looking after us - lots of water & cold wipes /

Everything was great, but the tour guide didn't seem to interest d in getting involved with us - I can't remember him even telling us his name. After seeing Poo do such a magnificent job on our previous Unseen tour, the difference was slightly jarring. Other than that, brilliant.

It often comes down to the quality of the guide and our guide, Mr Too, had a great personality
