Jim Thomson's House and Suan Pakkard Palace tickets and guided tour

The Jim Thompson House, nestled in the heart of Bangkok, was once the residence of an American named Jim Thompson. It has since been transformed into a museum.

This charming location is enveloped by a meticulously maintained tropical garden, housing six traditional Thai-style teak wooden buildings. Inside these structures, you'll find an extensive collection of predominantly South East Asian art, amassed by Jim Thompson himself. The James H.W. Thompson Foundation now oversees the house and its impressive art collection, with a mission to preserve both for future generations.

Jim Thompson played a pivotal role in rejuvenating the Thai silk industry. As you explore the house, you'll encounter various tools used in silk production, as well as informative displays detailing the process of silk worm harvesting, spinning and weaving.

Another cultural gem in Bangkok is the Pakkad Palace, also known as Suan Pakkard Palace. Situated on Sri Ayutthaya Road, south of the Victory Monument, this museum showcases a range of Thai antiques. Among these treasures is Ban Chiang pottery, which boasts a history spanning over 4,000 years.
