Nyerere National Park, formerly Selous Game Reserve, is Africa’s largest protected game reserve. This two-day safari flies you from Zanzibar straight into the park for a full-day game drive, a boat cruise on the Rufiji River and a guided bush walk through the wilderness. Spend the night at Africa Safari Selous, a lodge inside the park, waking to birdsong and the chance to explore the wilderness on foot the following morning. Africa Safari Selous sits inside the park itself. After a full day on game drive, you return to the lodge for dinner surrounded by the sounds of the bush. Nyerere’s remoteness means no light pollution and no road noise. You're sleeping in one of Africa's largest wild areas, with the Rufiji River nearby and wildlife active around the lodge through the night.

The day begins with an early morning drive from Mombasa to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, where your safari starts almost as soon as you arrive. After checking in at the Safari Resort, set off on your first game drive in a 4x4, keeping watch for lions, elephants, buffalo and giraffes across the sanctuary's plains and grasslands. After lunch back at the resort, head out again for an afternoon game drive before continuing to Salt Lick Safari Lodge. Built on stilts above a floodlit waterhole, it's the perfect spot to enjoy dinner while watching wildlife gather below before settling in for the night.

After an early breakfast at the lodge, make your way to the Rufiji River for a boat safari. From the water, you'll spot hippos, crocodiles, birdlife and other animals along the riverbanks. This is followed by a guided bush walk, where you move through the landscape on foot with your guide for a closer look at the smaller details of the ecosystem. In the afternoon, board your return flight to Zanzibar, where a driver meets you at the airport and takes you back to your hotel.

The overall experience on the safari was fantastic thanks to the brilliant guides, but this was ruined by the very disappointing and disorganised chaos that went on at the airport we were told to be reception at 4 am but did not get picked up until 4 30am then when we arrived at the airport we had to wait until 7.50 until we fly to Tanzania airport then it was great so maybe a later start would be better as this was expensive experience

Admin from the minute we paid was really poor Had to rebook as I was getting e mails meant for someone in Italy and sent passports twice and still had stress of sending them again a day.before we went. Once we got there it was brilliant fantastic and knowledgeable guides and great jeeps ect. Hotel was perfect and bushwalk in the morning was a unforgettable experience. Water safari was weakest part of the trip. Would recommend to anyone and animals and guides were amazing 👏 Well done to all 🤌
