An underwater adventure – in two very different settings. This half-day tour ventures into the heart of the Yucatan jungle and the reefs of the Caribbean for contrasting experiences. You'll swim in the mystical surroundings of a cenote and snorkel with turtles in a protected bay.

Kick off by heading inland to a sacred cenote. Here, you'll get to swim in one of the most beautiful cenotes in the region. This underground pool opens up to reveal a cavern of stalactites and stalagmites, where you can swim in cool, fresh water. It's easy to see why these natural cathedrals were so revered by the ancient Maya.

We'll then travel to Akumal Bay to spot turtles near the protected reef. Three species call this bay home – green, hawksbill and loggerhead. You'll be joined by an expert guide and a small group of snorkellers – a maximum of 16 – so that you can make the most of this experience. There'll also be time to explore the reef even further, admiring fish and rainbow-coloured coral, before returning to your hotel in the early afternoon.

We waited in the lobby to be collected and no-one came for us! We were so disappointed as it was our last day. The rep Angela was lovely and tried her best to get us out, she paid for a taxi for us to go to Akumel Beach so we could snorkel with turtles, unfortunately the sea was absolutely full of people and we only saw 2 turtles and 2 stingrays. We swam for an hour. If we were to do it again we would go out on a boat and maybe see more??! Good set up, food drink, shade ockers available

During swim to see Turtles, got a bit slow swimming and my party got ahead of me. I tried signalling to them that I was struggling but no-one noticed. I took a rest and returned ashore to wait for the party to return. When they did, the guide gave me a row for not telling him I had stopped, more embarrassing as it was in front of other guests. Not impressed as he was supposed to be looking after me.

The whole trip was fabulous, couldn't have asked for anything more.

The tour was the perfect length and held by very professional staff. Rudolph was incredibly welcoming and hospitable from the moment we were picked up. I'd have loved to learn more about the Turtle programme but that's the only thing id have added!

we liked seeing the turtles but it was a bit of a muddle with other groups swimming around, we absolutely thought that going in the cenote's was amazing the bus driver and the guides we very friendly and helpful excellent day.
