Tsavo East, Taita Hills and Salt Lick three-day safari from Mombasa

4.6/5
43 reviews

Your three-day adventure starts bright and early with a drive out to Tsavo East National Park, a place known for offering a raw and untamed safari experience. You’ll cruise through the park on a game drive, spotting wildlife along the way, and stop for lunch at Ashnil Aruba Lodge. After lunch, it’s back out for more exploring. Keep your camera ready, you might catch a glimpse of the Big Five – elephants, lions, buffalo, leopards and rhinos can be found here. As the day winds down, you’ll head over to Taita Hills Lodge for dinner and a good night’s rest.

The next morning, after breakfast, you’ll set out on a game drive through the Taita Hills Sanctuary, home to over 50 species of large mammals, including elephants, giraffes and zebras. You’ll be out until around midday, before heading back to the lodge for lunch. Then, it’s off to Saltlick Safari Lodge, where the rooms are perched above the plains on stilts. In the afternoon, you’ll go on another game drive through the sanctuary, where you might spot everything from giraffes and zebras to elephants and lions. After dinner, things get even more exciting with a night game drive – a chance to see what the animals get up to after dark.

On your last day, you’ll be up early for one final game drive. And, if the weather’s on your side, you might even catch sight of the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. After breakfast, you’ll head back to Mombasa, arriving at your hotel in the early afternoon.

An absolutely unforgettable three-day safari and the highlight of our Kenya holiday. We saw elephants, lions, giraffes, zebra, buffalo, hyenas and so much more. Staying at Taita Hills and Salt Lick was an incredible experience, especially watching the animals around the watering holes. Our game drives were fantastic and the scenery was beautiful. A truly magical experience that we will never forget and would highly recommend

It was a brilliant experience. Our driver and guide Ezekiel was great. The game drives itinerary was well organised so you can see as much as possible in the time available. Both lodges were great and well ran.

Our guide was fantastic! Hassan was so knowledgeable and took us to see each animal and explained about it. He absolutely made the trip! The elephants at Salt lick were amazing; coming close to the hotel’s open veranda to drink - what an experience!

Overall trip was amazing, I think an added bonus would be if you knew which animals you are not able to see at certain times of the year in certain parks, however the whole experience was amazing and we would highly recommend

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The only thing that I didn’t like really and others in the group was very early on the first day which wasn’t not the issue it is in fact that breakfast was not available that early in the morning which meant you had not eaten since the night before will about 12.30 pm and also the mosquito nets in both lodges were outdated and inadequate.
