What to expect

Kick off your day following the road that connects Caledonia to the Roman Britannia and take in the stunning scenery. You'll stop by the charming town of Kelso to explore its cobbled streets and discover the ruins of Kelso Abbey which act as a reminder of the many conflicts between Scotland and England. Continuing south, you'll cross the border and head to Alnwick Castle.

Famed for its starring role in Harry Potter as Hogwarts, you can soak up the magic of this castle that has held strong for nearly a millennium. You'll have three hours in Alnwick so once you've explored the castle, you can enjoy some time strolling around the town. It's a haven for book lovers boasting one of the largest and most impressive second-hand book shops in Britain. Then, it's time to head north along the Northumberland Coast and admire the stunning historic villages and castles that pepper the rolling landscapes of southern Scotland.
