Rumour has it Cleopatra used to be a regular at the Dalyan mud baths. On this half-day trip, you'll venture off to Ortaca market for some free time to poke around this open-air bazaar, before getting down and dirty in the natural mud pools and hot springs in Dalyan.

You'll start the day with a trip to the local Ortaca market for some typical Turkish shopping. Haggle your way through spice-scented stalls as you munch on fresh fruit, mingle with the locals or find an eye-catching trinket to take home.

Then, it's off to the mud baths of Dalyan – these pools of mud are famous for their healing properties. Perfect for families and younger children due to the shallow pools, you'll have some time to revitalise your skin and have fun in the mud. After showering off, you can even have a dip in the natural hot springs, where temperatures can hit 39°C.

The guide Sugar was brilliant. Gave us lots of information about the local area on the way, kept us informed of travel times and we felt very looked after. The market was really good with plenty of time to look around. The mud baths were great fun and we arrived at at a great time as it was quiet.

Our Tui rep did advise that the market was small, however it was very much a local market and had nothing of interest to us. Also the amount of time given for the market was too long and we spent a lot of time sitting on a park bench. The Peloid Mud Bath was fun, however it was evident that it was ‘man made’, little mud and no natural spring. Again the Tui Rep did suggest alternative excursion but we didn’t really want to spend two days of our 8 day holiday on excursions.

Didn’t think the market was worth a visit as not a lot of stuff there for children for presents to bring home

Visited yesterday with 2 adults, 2 Children (11,10). It was a fun experience. Some reviews i read mentioned not having a lot of time at the mud baths but i thought it was about right. The only thing I didn’t consider was the 1/2 day thing… we got back about 14:30 so for me that’s most of the day! Bring a snack!
