Pamukkale means 'cotton castle' in Turkish – and you'll soon see why as you set eyes upon this magical landscape. You'll also visit the adjacent ancient city of Hierapolis. Both are UNESCO-listed, so it's a two-in-one deal of Turkish historical gems.

A sight to behold, Pamukkale is a series of mountainside terraces where natural springs have solidified into snowy-white stalactites and cliffs. The effect is a winter-like wonderland of petrified tiers and pools. People have bathed here for thousands of years, including Roman emperors. Follow in their footsteps and bathe in one of the thermal pools or simply stand at the top of Pamukkale and drink in the magnificent views.

Then it's onto to the ruins of ancient Hierapolis – a necropolis, temples, baths and much more. The theatre is a showstopper. You'll also have free time to check out the archaeological museum. It may be a long ride to get there, but it's definitely worth it.

Our young guide was exceptional. He gave us an interesting brief history about Turkey from the formation to today. It was inspiring to hear his pride I only wish young people in UK could be similar. Due to the excessive heat he recommended we take the buggy ride around Hieropolis, he was so right. Some who chose not to were near collapse. I think trusting your local guide is essential, that proved it. When we come again I hope we have the same guide.

The guide charges us too much for the gold buggies and also to get into the pool. He made money from all of us where if we had ourselves it would have been cheaper. He didn’t want to walk anywhere wanted us to just have lunch and come back no down time at hotel after lunch a sort of consensus but felt obliged to say ok let’s go . The quicker we did things the quicker we could leave was how the experience felt .

A long drive in a minibus with limited space and limited air con. Could have done with something else in there as too much free time. The ‘snow slopes’ were very impressive though.

The knowledge and passion for his subject meant that our guide, Volkan, made the whole experience so much more interesting. The minibus was fine but I don't think the air conditioning was working very well. The hotel stop for lunch was also enjoyable.

Maxine hat uns gesagt alles ist inkludiert ausser Getränke. Frühstück war NICHT inkludiert und wir mussten umgerechnet in Euro etwa 40€ zahlen. Das Mittagessen in diesem altmodischen Hotel verstehe ich nicht, zudem ist nicht mal der Tourguide selber ein Fan davon gewesen. Ich verstehe dann nicht warum man uns an Orte bringt, die selbst due TUI Tourguides nicht gut finden Wozu haven wir 109€ pro Person gezahlt? Für Chicken Nuggets zum Mittagessen?
