Drach Caves, pearl shop with digital museum and local market tour

4.1/5
1931 reviews

Three Majorca musts share top billing on this tour. You'll stroll the stalls of a farmer's market, delve into the depths of the famous Drach Caves and visit the renowned Majorica pearl shop with digital museum. Xisca, one of our local guides, says, ‘Before you even set foot inside, you call feel something truly spectacular lies ahead. The cave system is a world of secretive caverns and subterranean lakes brought to life by music and light shows.'

Your first stop will be the Majorica shop and museum, where possibly the finest imitation pearls in the world are made. See digital displays explaining the manufacturing process before browsing pearl jewellery in the shop. Xisca says, ‘The designs are creative and exquisitely crafted, which is why Majorica jewellery is such a popular birthday or Christmas gift on the island.'

It's then on to the weekly market in a country town. Poke around stalls stocked with everything from fragrant fruit and vegetables to aromatic herbs and pungent cheeses. The chance to try products such as Majorca's famous black pig pork is part of the experience. Spicy sobrassada, a spreadable paprika-cured sausage, makes for a great take-home souvenir – and helps local producers. Then, round off the day at Drach Caves. Get the lowdown from your guide on the formation of the system millions of years ago. There are four caves and a large lake, made all the more magical by the special lighting and a classical music concert from a quartet right in the very depths of the caves.

Too much travelling between locations. I would recommend to get rid of the local market, not worth it only a few stalls, I would have more time in Porto cristo for lunch and ensure more time to have after the caves to get drink/food and look at gift shop. Felt very rushed to ensure transport. I loved Porto Cristo wanted more time Loved the caves wanted more time

Loved the places we visited stunning places , the guide was informative on the coach but no narrative on the way back . We would have appreciated a little waiting time until every one got off the coach as the guide had walked ahead of us all . Overall great trip

The journey to the market was enjoyable seeing some of the scenery of Majorca and the market and village was pleasant. Could have done with more time in porta cristo to look around it a lot more and the caves are a fantastic experience. I think the pearl factory stop is a waste of time.

Drach Caves and Porto Christo were incredible. However, the first small town market was very sparse. We walked up and down market in 15 mins. Spent 45 mins sitting in cafe! Pearl shop was nice but again not worth it. I would have preferred more time exploring Porto Christo instead of first market and pearl shop.

The Drach caves were enjoyable but, and this is more my fault for being naive, I thought the experience was going to be more exclusive, there was more people than I expected at the caves and through strangers various behaviours it sours the experience abit. The first market you go to is very small and not alot to offer but nonetheless very beautiful town and sites. Portochristo was very nice and beautiful. The pearl shop at the end of the tour didn't interest me. But overall a lovely experience
